A Reminder - Permission To Pause

Happy Friday!

Here is a picture of beautiful Readymoney Cove taken last week whilst I was in Cornwall with my family. I have happy memories of this day watching our children playing in the waves together.  Last week was a chance for me to pause and rest with my family.  Sometimes we don’t realise how important it is to do this, it doesn’t need to involve a trip away, but giving ourselves time out to relax and recharge is key.

I didn’t realise how much I needed fresh air and nature and how invigorated I have felt since returning.  It has also made me realise that our health is everything.  I’ve had a challenging 3 months personally after ending up in out of hours at a hospital on Christmas Day with an acute ear infection which progressively got worse and worse.  Three months of blocked ears, temporary reduced hearing, courses of antibiotics and steroids, hearing and pressure tests, ear, sinus and brain MRI scans - it has been quite tough at times.

I am so grateful to have been discharged from my ENT consultant this week.

I feel so blessed that I have the all clear and I am finally feeling back to my true self.  I've been fortunate that I have been able to work fully throughout all of this despite at times the over-whelming and relentless pain and pressure in my ears.  Our health is everything - it has made me think about how blessed I am compared to so many and it’s given me a wake-up call to really focus on my well-being this year more than ever.  It’s one of my key goals for 2024.

Take care of yourselves, give yourself permission to pause and don’t take your health for granted. For years I thought that admitting I was poorly on unwell was a sign of weakness - how wrong I was.

Fresh air and nature really is wonderful medicine as well as the wonderful people we have in our lives who truly care.

Have a super weekend ahead.
