Take a Break

Happy Friday and Happy New Year!

I hope you had a relaxing and restful Christmas break and enjoyed the time with your families and friends.

Every other person I've spoken to since New Year seems to have been poorly or knows someone close to them who has been ill over Christmas. I too came down with the flu and it wiped me out for over a week.

I love this visual from my new (Liz and Mollie) calendar - it's helped me to reflect on what we tell ourselves at times about taking a break or in many cases why we don't take the breaks we need. My wise mentor told me once, 'Rach you are good at what you do, but you are not indispensable and if you go away we will continue to operate well'.

I was taken aback at the time and it made me doubt myself and my worth but in the years since I have replayed this conversation to myself often and it's been a real nugget for me. It's also made me realise I'm not indestructible either and I need to take care of myself if I want to take care of others. It's really helped me since I established Arch inspire to still take the take regular time out.

As we start this year consider how, when and why you are going to take the breaks you need to take care of yourself too. These breaks don't need to be specific holidays or big chunks away but time out where you take time to reset, recharge and refocus for you.

Have a great weekend ahead!
