Press Pause
Happy Friday!
'Pausing before Pleasing' is a common focus in my work with clients. I have explored it in three coaching sessions just this week, linked to developing delegation skills, empowering team members to grow, develop and step up, leading assertively and committing to well-being strategies and habits.
I have worked to reduce my own people-pleasing tendency over the years with my own coach and mentors - I now understand completely the distinction between helping and pleasing.
These little techniques and questions have helped me and my clients greatly over the years. I encourage you to use them.
💡’Pause before Pleasing’ too readily (give myself time before saying yes too
readily or jumping in straight away)
💡Challenge myself - Am I helping or pleasing?
💡If I say yes to someone else do I say no to myself?
💡How do I feel and think once I have 'pleased' versus how do I feel and think after I
have 'helped'?
💡Consider and value my own needs and my core values daily
💡Where is the pressure to please coming from? (quite often its from ourselves!)
Have a great weekend ahead.
