Just For Fun

Happy Friday!
Here's a picture of myself and the brilliant Debra Mitchell after completing the Alton Towers half marathon last Sunday. I’ve decided to share this as it links closely to goal setting and being specific about your measures of success.
The goal for us on this day was to have FUN - that was it and nothing else. Our measures of success were:
⭐️ How much we enjoyed it
⭐️ How much we laughed
⭐️ How many of the Alton Towers rides we managed to get on after the run!
No pressure for a time or a specific way of running it, no pressure of split times and we didn't raise any money for this run.
What I learnt:
🤪 How important it is to simply do things for fun.
🤝 How good it feels when you can also help someone at the same time. (I came
across a man at mile 12 who was in a world of pain with his knees (no surprise
given the amount of hills we had to run!) I decided to stop, sit with him, help and
support him.
⬆️ How well you can actually perform when you take some pressure off - I
surprised myself with this.
😆 How good laughter is for the soul.
❤️ The importance of shared goals and connection - Debs and I have known each
other for near to 10 years, through our training and this run I feel we are even
closer, blessed to have you in my life Debs.
🎢 The best way to do Alton Towers with no queues is to run a half marathon then
get on every single ride with minimal queuing in under 3 hours and clock 40k
steps! - boom!
🗻 Oh and the Alton Towers half is flipping hilly!
Have a super weekend and challenge yourself to have more FUN this weekend - consider how your current goals and ambitions allow you to do this. What can you factor in that brings you fun, joy and laughter? Hats off to Philip Hurdman who does this better than anyone I know! 😊
