Leadership In Sport

Happy Friday!

Apologies if you are not a Villa fan but today I wanted to share this short post as I very feel proud to be an adopted Brummie this week! My twin boys are Villa supporters and we are as a family too. I will never, ever forget how happy and excited the boys were with their friends on Wednesday night watching their team lift the Europa League trophy. They were singing, dancing and smiling from ear to ear.

It made me think about how sport really does bring people together and also how fortunate I am to have found the Midlands 20 years ago. Watching the sea of people yesterday afternoon in Centenary Square was an emotional sight. Listening to Unai Emery address the crowds also cemented for me what a wonderful coach and leader he is. In every single press interview he thanks the fans first and foremost. He's committed to always learning and always improving.

I love this quote of his.....

"For me, whether we win or lose, every match is giving me a lot of information about how to improve".

Sport brings people together, my children are learning so much from it (the highs, the lows, the resilience, the respect, the team spirit). I know these lessons will help them in life.

Nothing more to say today other than UP THE VILLA! Thank you for reading this - especially if you're not a Villan! 💜

Have a great bank holiday weekend.
