Making Memories - Here & Now

Happy Friday and Happy September!

I am back and ready to go again after a truly magical adventure in Indonesia.

My grandparents travelled round the world when they retired and I remember when I was young, them telling me to travel when I was older, as I would learn so much about myself and others.  I did this in 2004 for a year and back-packed around Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore and Thailand – I firmly know it played a key part in my decision to start my own business years later.

It’s always been my dream to give our children a taste of what it is like to travel and to truly explore, so after a year or researching and planning we went to Indonesia and travelled throughout Bali and Komodo during August.  It’s the best thing we've ever done as a family and I feel we are closer as a result of our adventure together. We experienced so much including just some of the following...

🌋 Climbed a volcano (Mt Batur) for sunrise

🌊 Went white water rafting in the Ayjung

🛕 Visited so many beautiful temples

☕️ Visted and stayed in a coffee plantation

🍚 Zip-wired over the Tegalalang rice terraces,

🚴🏼‍♀️ Cycled 18 miles through rice terraces, villages and the jungle

🧗‍♀️ Cliff jumped amongst waterfalls

🦎 Saw komodo dragons, monkeys, water buffalo, fruit bats, wild deer and wild boar

all in their natural habitats

🤿 Snorkelled and swam with reef sharks, turtles, rays and thousands of fish

🦞Ate seafood on the beach

⛵️ Stayed at 7 incredible hotels and sailed throughout the Komodo islands

What will stay with me forever, will be the shared memories we now have and the incredible people we met (our guides, our hosts and every single person who served us in a shop, market or restaurant) – my husband has also travelled widely and we both agreed that the Indonesian people in Bali and Komodo are the most happiest, kindest, welcoming, humble, grateful people we have ever encountered.

Here are a few pics from over 1500 that we took!  I am so grateful that by working hard, saving, researching and choosing a wonderful travel company in Stubborn Mule Travel, we were able to give our children this experience and fulfil our dream of taking the children to a different part of the world, to be immersed in a different culture and to experience more of our incredible planet.

Life is short and so precious – it’s about making memories here and now.

We now have the travel bug so we are thinking about where next! I cannot praise Stubborn Mule and Khiri Travel enough - they were phenomenal.

Have a super weekend ahead!
